Beer and foam

Ever wonder wat's the best way to pour beer out of a can so that you have the minimum amount of foam? Well.. We saw this guy did it at a pub by vertically inverting the can. I tried it and failed badly. As can be seen in the pict. What happened? What did i do wrongly?
