Siggraph Alumni Gathering

Time really flies and currently the fourth committee team is leading the NTU club. Well.. This was a club founded by me. Yes.. Ella the founder, the protem president of the ACM NTU Siggraph. Siggraph = Special Interest Group in Computer Graphics.

I started lobbying to set up the club during year 3 of my uni days. It took me 1 year of talking to various professors before the club took off. Becos of this club, i got to know some super amazing wizards. Talents hiding in NTU le.

Well.. It was to be a gathering of the current committee and the alumni. Let's just say, things were fine until dinner. There was a presentation of their current activities after dinner. And all we saw was PAYM stuff (People's Association Youth Movement). Helloooo.. Siggraph is no way affliated to PA. The alumni got rather heated after listening and let's just say after that was just nuke and machine guns firing. I dropped the Nuke "Are you all becoming a PAYM club?".

okk.. i guess i was too direct. Can sense the deafening silence after that. And the fellow alumnis tried to soften the impact but i was waiting for the answer that never came.. After that nuke, you hear all the machine guns started firing..

okk.. Never invite alumni unless u sure u know wat u doing. Alumnis feel passionate about the club as we all put in our heart n soul to start the club. The thing now is, the current club is doing a lot of activites. More than us previously, but a lot of activities are PAYM's. I feel disgusted to hear they giving away PAssion cards as freebies due to the PAYM collaboration. Hello.. If i need the card to book badminton in CC, why do i need to sign up with NTU Siggraph just for tis? And is NTU affliated to PAP?

创 业 难, 守 业 更 难 reflects perfectly the club now. Hopefully the committee has heard us and will cut down on the PAYM activities. And hopefully in the near future, we hear Siggraph mentioned in the 3D world and not some PAP newsletter.
