Vancouver - Shanghai River Restaurant

A place recommended by a lot of ppl and i certainly recommend it to one and all.. It's like Ding Tai Feng, except the food there is even better than Ding Tai Feng and you are paying Crystal Jade's pricing..

The non-stop flow of ppl into the restaurant is indicative of the food, service and price. We only order 3 dishes as there's only 2 of us and we didn't want to overeat.

First Dish - Soup Dumpling
Xiao Long Bao
Super thin skin, super juicy inside and skin doesn't break when you take it out of the basket. At $6.90, i say this is super cheap considering the quality. Super fresh somemore..

Second Dish - Red Bean Pancake
Red Bean Pancake
One of Derrick's fav dish back home. And he grabbed a pc even before i could take a picture. Wasn't too sweet, just subtle sweet and fragant. The skin was chewy and crispy.. Yum yum..

Last Dish - Noodles in Spicy soup
Hot and Spicy Soup
We were feeling cold and wanted something hot. Thought we order anoodle as it didn't seems right to walk away with 2 dim sum side dishes. Every other tables was fully laden with dishes. Turned out really good. It's not spicy, but when u drink more and more, the heat builds up. Wasn't expecting such a big portion for $7. Definitely yummy and cheap compared to Washington. This dish made us realised the depth of our craving for spicy food =)
