Nian gao for 2008

Nian Gao
Tonight, ella fried the nian gao she bought a month ago from Vancouver, Canada. I only fry half the nian gao as there's only 4 of us that's going to eat this today. It was really good. Derrick prefers just plain fried nian gao, i on the other hand prefers nian gao + sweet potato combi. In all, it's not too sweet and was really fragrant.

Now, every1 tells me that nian gao can keep for really long .. it remains edible even after moulds grow on them. My mum used to fry the nian gaos that ppl gave us and are mouldy.. Just need to slice away a thin layer of the nian gao.

This trip back, i chanced upon this fish nian gao being sold at the supermarket. How innovative...

I prefer the plain brown nian gao, cos i wouldn't know how to cut up the fish-shaped nian gao to fry later =P
