Memorial Day Highlights
It feels like chalet again, those old school days type. Except it's more posh.. 16 of us + 1 baby made the 4hour drive down to Cannon Beach, Oregon . And by some sheer luck, we found this beautiful 5 room vacation home right by the sea, and was rather cheap too..
I like this much better than chalets. Maybe i'm grown up, i don't like to have so many of us squeezing into 1 room, neither do i like scringing on stuff just to keep expenses low. Well, we really didn't spent a lot, but i felt it was a truly beautiful trip.
Half of the group at Multnomah Falls at Columbia River Gorge.
This is how it looks when a bunch of us decide to start a campfire at the beach using a USD$7 flint. Let's just say, starting a fire the primative way is not easy. The issue is, the sparks created by the flint needed a material to light. We tried, thin strips of wood, paper, tissue paper, etc.. It all didn't work out. In the end, borrowing a matchstick and some newspaper from the nearby group, which had a campfire, saved the day.
Cooking sauages by the hot fire, only thing missing is marshmallows. We collected quite an amount of driftwood and with the strong wind, the fire was big enough to keep us warm.
And we found this kite in the garage of the house. It's certainly been ages since we all last flew a kite.
It simply feels good to get out of the daily routine. In fact, while at the vacation house, i have a tendency to want to stay in and laze at the couch. It would have been picture perfect if we have had beautiful sunshine. But i'm not complaining, i'm blessed to have this 3 days break, enjoying the company of friends and loved ones.
