Heat, water and food for the Independence Day weekend
It's been a while since we last went camping, i would think it's more than a year. And this time round, we got friends who were keen to go camping with us. So off we go, happy campers.. Our destination was Sun Lakes State Park, which was in Grand Coulee area, ie Grant county. It's 3.5hours drive away or 200miles away.
Here's us taking a pit stop, overseeing the rocky scenery and beautiful lake.
Seems that this place was a waterfall many years ago. Now it's just a waterfall without the water. Hence the name Dry falls
This was our "home" for the 3 nights. It was rather cozy. only issue was that the neighbours were so noisy and we practially slept in all the noise. Guess everyone's having a loud vacation in the wild.
Here's the happy campers. Enjoying the sun, food and everyone's company
armed with really yummy BBQ food. see.. Even the corn are tied to professional standards.
The BBQ food was really out of the world. I must say, that the food preparation was really good. We had different kinds of marinated meat. yummy...
See the beautiful sandy beach where we spent the whole afternoon lazing in the water cooling from the heat. Technically, this is a pool of water formed as a result of the dam. And becos of the heat ~88degrees (~36 degrees celsius), what better way to cool off than to jump into the water? In fact, we jumped into water several times a day to cool off. It was shiok...
In the night, we headed to Grand Coulee dam for the nightly laser show and the Independence day fireworks. It was really special, certainly a different way of Independence celebrations.
And guess what does happy campers are doing? The fireworks just ended and the traffic is a bad crawl. We decided to wait out by playing cards along the road. Isn't that funky?
It seems so much more fun to have more people camping than just the 2 of us. Well, i guess all the happer campers really enjoyed the trip and everyone earned a nice golden tan. Definitely will go back to eastern Washington again for another camping trip in the near future.
