Camping at Diamond Lake for Labor day

We did the long 8 hour drive to Diamond Lake, Oregon. It was freaking cold and wet. Yes, one of our worst camping trips so far as quite a few things happened. But also, one of the most authentic trips with the good old campfire with wood that we picked from the fallen trees.

Here's us huddling around the campfire when the temperature dropped to 32degree frahenheit (~1 degree celsius). It was super cold to be sleeping out in the cold. Good thing, all of us have sleeping bags.

And we found out, that chicken wings cooked over the campfire taste super good and crispy. yum yum.. although it takes a good 1hour or so to cook the chicken wing

See us huddling in the cold? Yes, we woke up super early to drive to crater lake, hoping to get tickets to do the ferry ride. Yes, on the drive up the mountain, it was snowing.

Does this reminds you of Black Friday sales and the queues? yes, a lot of people were queueing for the ferry ride. apparently the previous days' rides were all cancelled because of the strong winds and high waves. Alas, we ran out of luck too, our rides were all cancelled too despite us getting the tickets.

This is us at the rim of crater lake. Magnificant lake but the weather was simply too cold.

Behind me are those boats that was supposed to take us to the wizard island that's right in the middle of the crater lake.

see? The minivan that we have rented broke down. And had all the different colours lighted. The car had skidded several times lightly, the previous day when we were driving in the rain to Oregon. And to think it started having one lighted indicator after another. And we had to make several calls to the rental company before the tow car brought us another replacement car.

Despite the cold and the car, it was an overall fun camping trip. We had the best hot water showers that were free and yummy food.
