Yummy guilty dinner feast
My very first attempt at making Cereal prawns from scratch using Nestum oats. I would say it's a success. My friend Eve came to help me with the cooking, and i didn't have a recipe on hand. So the 2 of us kinda tested the flavor and add the flavourings as we cook. It turned out pretty darn authentic.
The funny joke on us was, we kinda followed the proportion of ingredients from another receipe. And.. Since the recipe was for 500g of grams and we had 2lbs of prawns. We kinda multiply everything by 4. When in actual fact, we should multiply by 2. So we had double the portion of oats and every other ingredients, we had a lot more crispy cereals than it should have been.
Let's just say, we won't be having cereal prawns until 1 year later.. It's simply too sinful with the amount of butter and eggs in it. On top of which, i will need to wait until i replenish with Nestum Quick oats from Singapore. You can't buy those here in USA...
Guess everyone loved this dish. Only complains were the size of the prawns that were too small. Well guys, i bought whatever was the cheapest prawns at the supermarket =P
To top off dinner, i also cooked sweet and sour pork, vegetables with rice. A truly authentic Singapore feast to celebrate our independence day.
