What did we do to celebrate my birthday?
Pick a place and just go... That's what we did last sunday. Derrick suggested this idea and I chose a nearby island - Whidbey Island. We haven't been to this place before and thought why not? And they had free farm visits on sunday where u can enter farms and get some free self-guided tour.
To get to the island, we could take the ferry as it's shorter route. It's the first time we took the ferry here and we get to drive our car onto the ferry. Definitely a fun experience.
Here's us boarding the ferry in our cars by driving in.
That's the island we going to. The whole ferry trip took only 10-20minutes
See the cute pumpkins? Now when pumpkins are in season, it means Halloween season is here. Now who says pumpkins has to look scary?
We had lunch at this taraven. The mussels were REALLY REALLY GOOD..
Simply steamed with garlic. Heavenly!!! We concluded that since the taraven is next to Penn Cove Shellfish - Which is USA's biggest commercial shellfish farm, which explains why the mussels were so fresh. Now, it's so good that Derrick actually said that it's worth driving up here just for the mussels again... Link: http://www.tobysuds.com/
Enjoying a super big double scoop icecream in a waffle cone under the sun. Sweet!
Me standing on the Deception pass bridge overlooking the beautiful water and scenery. Information about the pass: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deception_Pass
In all, it was a beautiful birthday treat. Going to the various farms such as lavender farms, etc.. Enjoying the sun, the scenery and the company of Derrick of course.
