Feeling challenged

Had to make several calls to Taiwan for my upcoming trip. And boy, have i to admit that i was definitely challenged by the chinese. Definitely intimidating to converse in Chinese over the phone with the taiwanese. Have my chinese gone too rusty? Or i have jiak kan dang" (to eat potatoes i.e. to be like a foreigner)?

The lady asks "可以给我你的联络号码?"

Toally stumped at trying to recall my phone number and telling her in chinese. In the end, i wrote the numbers down on a paper and read it out in chinese to her.

Boy... Even Derrick has the same sentimentals. It's definitely painful to read all the chinese web sites while doing all the research for our upcoming trip
